One More Week
Temperature and humidity rising. Time to head north. Time to decide what stays in Florida and what will travel with us. In some ways I like this process. I review my clothes, art supplies, and books. Three piles: the stay, the take, and give to Goodwill.
I always have great plans of what I will achieve during my five-month stay in Florida. As usual, I didn’t accomplish everything. I didn’t do any painting, which is a shame since we have a plethora of subject matter all around us: birds, trees, sunrises, and sunsets. I did get Something to Crow About published as a paperback and ebook. Setting up the paperback on IngramSpark was a learning curve, but I finally succeeded, and the book can be ordered through bookstores. Phew.
I’ve started a new suspense, this one set in Florida. New characters, new setting. That’s always exciting. And I’m learning new things about the flora and fauna in this area. Thank goodness one of the members of my Florida critique group knows a lot about these things.
While down here, through Zoom meetings, I’ve learned more about copyright (what it does and does not cover. new ways to promote my books, and I’ve also started working on a sales promotion for my P.J. Benson Mystery series. The promotion will launch in June so keep watching for more information about that.
Meanwhile, I have one more week to enjoy Florida: the sunny days, warm (getting hot) temperatures, meals of fresh fish and shell fish, and friendly people.
One more week to enjoy stunning sunsets.

Enjoy the warmth. The temps are going down up here. Safe travels.
I’m giving you a week, Diane, to bring those temps back up, at least to the 60s. We’re looking forward to seeing friends and family.
Florida is lovely. Hope you enjoy your final week there and have safe travels back up North.Good luck and God’s blessings.PamT
I’m always sorry to leave, Pamela, but I’ll also be glad to be back closer to my family. The drive is exhausting, but at least we won’t be rushing, as we were last year. Thanks for your good wishes.
Hi Maris, Happy to receive your blog. You sound as though your time in Florida was quite productive. Kudos to you. I struggled to keep my writing practice up, but happy it did not fall apart totally. I am looking forward to next season to rejoin the writers group. Safe travel and good luck in all your new endeavors. Jane
Jane, I understand the struggle to keep the writing going. I did all right as far as finishing the last book in the “Crows” series, but my personal reading hit a wall. Not sure why, but I just haven’t found it easy to get involve with a book. I’ll start one, read part, put it down, and don’t go back to it. That’s not like me. I guess this Covid business effects us in different ways.
Interesting topic…and you did accomplish something as long as you guys enjoyed yourselves.
Thanks, Renci. Yes, you’re right, I did get Something to Crow About out as an ebook and paperback, but I had so many other plans. I really thought I’d do a lot of painting this year. I didn’t even pick up a paint brush. Now, do I haul all of my paint supplies back north or leave them here and hope I get the urge to paint next winter? Decisions, decisions.
I’m looking forward to seeing you again. Maybe not at the library, but those of us who’ve been vaccinated are welcome at my dining room table.
YES! Would love to sit at your dining room table. I’ll contact you after we get back and get re-settled in.
Like your new look. Very nice.Have a safe trip.Judy
Thanks, Judy. My daughter created the new look. It’s so nice to have someone in the family who understand programming.
Let’s hope when you get here the springtime weather will have returned. 😉
