The Fun of Promotion
The past couple weeks have really been fun for me. On Wednesday, February 11, I was a guest at Annette Briggs house where I met with six members of her book club. They had chosen THRILL OF THE CHASE, my 1995 Loveswept to read. As I mentioned in my last blog, I had a difficult time finding a copy of that book. Annette finally found one for me so I could remember what it was about. The group was wonderful, and I had a great time talking about writing and all the changes that have occurred in the last 30 years. (Annette also served a nice lunch.)
Then, last Saturday, February 21, I was at the CREAKY FLOOR BOOKSTORE in Galesburg, Michigan, for a two hour meet and greet. I had a wonderful time there, too. Friends I haven’t seen for years showed up. Readers and relatives. The bookstore needed more chairs. I was asked questions about my writing process, research, and if I was going to write any more P.J. Benson Mysteries (The CROW series) or a sequel to A KILLER PAST. They actually got me thinking of the possibility. At the end of the talk I autographed a few books and answered more personal writing related questions. We went over the two hours and bumped into the next scheduled writer. I would have stayed to listen to her, but a group grabbed me and took me to the PROSPECTORS COOK HOUSE, across the street from the bookstore, where we continued talking.
Nothing makes a writer happier than hearing people enjoyed her/his books or want to talk about writing.
Besides promoting my published books, I’ve been trying to find a publisher for TWO JADE BRACELETS. I am looking for a publishing house that does not require me to have an agent. They’re out there. I just need to find one that loves the book.
Cross your fingers for me.
